Road Trip Safety

With the drop in gas prices, it’s the perfect time to embark on a summer road trip in your Ram truck. Whether you’re headed across the country to that dreaded family reunion, or to camp at one of Arizona’s many state parks, it’s important to follow these safety tips.

1. Inspect your vehicle

Before you set out on the road, do a quick inspection of your Ram truck. Make sure your tires are full, no lights are burned out, the windshield wipers are working correctly and that you have enough windshield wiper fluid.

2. Always wear a seatbelt

We get it. You’ve been sitting in the back seat of your Ram truck for hours, and all you want to do is slip off your seatbelt and lie across the seat. As cozy as this sounds,  it’s not worth the risk. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Seat belts reduce serious crash-related injuries and deaths by about half.”

3. Rotate drivers

It can be hard to give up the wheel of your Ram truck and let someone else drive, but when you’re traveling for long hours it’s imperative. Schedule driving shifts and make sure everyone is well rested.

4. Don’t wait to refuel

It’s easy to forget about refueling your Ram truck until you hear your gas light come on. If possible, avoid this at all costs. Keep an eye on how much gas you have left, and if you’re running low pull off at the nearest gas station. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

5. Pack water and snacks

Besides the fact that packing water and snacks saves you money, it’s important to have these items in case of emergency. If for some reason you find yourself stranded on the side of the road for an extended period of time, you’ll be glad you thought ahead.
